The flying sparks are unfortunately one of the few negative side effects of an open fireplace. Since the flying sparks occur in all directions, attention should be paid not only to the protection of the floor, but also necessarily to the horizontal spark protection. The spark protection grid consists of a fine-mesh wire mesh, which is held by a frame.
A spark arrester must never be exposed to direct flames. To avoid overheating, the spark arrester should be placed at a minimum distance of 25 cm from the fire source.
